Financial services in Nepal is slowly growing and over the past 25 years the financial sector has become deeper and the number and type of financial intermediaries have grown rapidly. Recent reforms have also made the banking sector, insurance and stock markets  more stable. Still, access to financial services remains limited for many people in Nepal. Given the scenario, Shanker has invested in the insurance sector to further grow the penetration of Insurance in Nepal 

Our investments are in two companies:

Life insurance is not just a business, it is a social service as well.The primary objective of the company is to carry on all life insurance business including the health insurance. The company is to provide qualitative life assurance services to its valued customer/policyholders by introduction of latest technology and new product. The Company would actively involve itself in mobilization of domestic savings. 

• Himalayan Re-Insurance - Himalayan Re is Nepal’s first private reinsurance firm and will provider insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer, working to make the world more resilient. The aim is to enable society to thrive and progress, creating new opportunities and solutions for its clients.
